Consiglia Licciardi

This is the archive of Consiglia and Peppe Licciardi's music. Consiglia is a truly remarkable and extremely gifted singer. Her brother Peppe is a composer, lyricist and virtuoso of the classical guitar. (Consiglia and Peppe once performed with Frank Sinatra in Rome.)

Watch one of Consiglia's performances on Tele Monte Carlo. Peppe is the author of both songs Consiglia sings there: Voglio and Autunno.

Watch her video Alma Latina with Andrè Reyes of the Gipsy Kings, who co-authored with Peppe the song in the performance.

The following clips are available from the concert La voce di Napoli - A voz de Lisboa that Consiglia and Nuno da Câmara Pereira, famous Portuguese singer, gave in Madeira.

Passione is a solo performance by Consiglia. The finale and the encore are perfomed jointly by Consiglia and Nuno.

Watch the RaiTre news clip announcing the the release of the CD Ariammore. The second RAI news clip reports on a music festival where Consiglia gave a magnificent performance in (where else?) Santa Lucia.

The recordings that follow, made available with permission, may only be used for personal audition. They are not to be copied, modified or reused without written authorization. (Contact Peppe Licciardi for information.)

In memoriam
Roberto Murolo
Naples, January 19, 1912 - Naples, March 13, 2003

Roberto was one of the greatest singers of our time. He's shown us that Neapolitan music can be interpreted and sung with a tenuous voice,2 when one has a big heart. His style has been an inspiration to many. Roberto was the singing storyteller of our past and shall remain the guiding light for our future.

Note: The Maestro's legal date of birth is January 23. He celebrated his legal birthday. The RAI website has a short bio.

1 Happy Christmas, written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono to protest the Vietnam War, became, with modified lyrics, a standard Christmas song. Consiglia's interpretation, while making no reference to war, keeps the strong message of racial tolerance also included in the original lyrics.
2 "With a tenuous voice" translates Consiglia's original "con un filo di voce." This idea is José Iovino's. (Surely, "with a whisper" does not work too well.)
